Educational Philosophy

“I believe deeply in the adage – attributed to Plutarch – that ‘the mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.’ My approach is to help each student discover and their pursue their own distinctive passions, both inside and outside of the classroom. Not only is this path best for the student, both developmentally and humanistically, it is also, happily, the best way to prepare for successful application to highly selective colleges. The ultimate goal is to help each student discover and gain admission to a college where they will flourish.”

College Counseling

From 8th grade onward, students receive guidance on selecting courses that are challenging yet appropriate, connection with academic support when needed, and academic mentorship on discovering and pursuing their passions, both academic and extracurricular.

Starting in junior year, the focus shifts to supporting students in discovering and gaining admission to a college where they will flourish.”
